Profile of Syu Katayama (piano)

Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Raised in Otaru, started playing the piano at the age of seven. He graduated from Tokyo College of Music (piano player course excellence) at the top and is currently enrolled in the master's program at the same graduate school for two years. The 64th All Japan Student Music Competition Piano Division Junior High School Students Division 1st place, 41st Pitina Piano Competition Special Grand Prix, Audience Award and many other awards. Released the album "Landscapes" from Warner Classics Japan in 2018. He has performed with recitals and concerts in Europe as well as in Japan, and with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and other orchestras, and is actively active not only in solo but also in the field of chamber music. He has studied piano under Kayoko Hinata and Kanae Saito, and music theory under Hiroyuki Asano. Currently, he has studied piano under Mari Takeda, Seizo Higashi, and Nobuyuki Hirose, chamber music under Ami Fujiwara, and harmony under Eisuke Tsuchida. ..
